Abr.

Abr. is an old abbreviation of the first name Abraham, common in deeds, wills, church registers and census pages.

Abr. is a clerk's shorthand for the given name Abraham. Writers shortened common first names to save time and ink, usually by keeping the first letters and the last one or two, often with the final letters raised above the line.

Abm is a second common form for the same name, a contraction that keeps the first two letters and the last. Both forms appear in deeds, census pages and church records.
