In short

We keep only what the site needs to remember your progress. We do not sell your data and we do not use advertising cookies today.

What we store

  • One cookie (da_sid) that links this browser to your progress. It is needed for the site to work and is not used for advertising.
  • Your answers, reading and streak, only after you answer a question or mark a page as read. Nothing is saved before that.
  • Your email, only if you sign in, so your streak and progress follow you to other devices. If you sign in with Google, Google tells us only your email address, nothing else from your Google account.
  • Messages you send through the contact form, with the name and email you give us, so we can reply.
  • Simple visit statistics: which page was opened, how long it stayed open, how far it was scrolled, the kind of device, the country and the website that sent you. We do not store your IP address, and these statistics are only used to see which pages help.

Who else is involved

  • Cloudflare hosts the site and the database and sends our sign-in emails. Like every web host, it handles your IP address to deliver the pages.
  • Google, only if you choose "Continue with Google" to sign in.
  • Fonts and record images come from our own server, so your browser does not contact Google Fonts or the archives.

If we add analytics or advertising, we will update this page first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent.

How long we keep it

Progress that has not been used for 400 days is deleted. Contact messages are kept for as long as we need them to answer you.

Your rights

You can ask us to show, correct or delete your data through the contact page. Clearing your cookies removes the link between your browser and your progress.

Children

Daily Ancestor is made for adults and is not directed at children.
