How we make Daily Ancestor
Plain, correct and sourced: this is how every page is put together and checked.
1. Real records from public archives
The record images come from public collections: the National Archives, the Library of Congress, state archives and Wikimedia Commons. Each one shows where it came from and its licence. We never copy records or indexes from subscription sites.
2. A first draft, written with AI help
Dictionary cards and census guides are drafted with the help of an AI model, from sources that are opened and read: the Census Bureau, the National Archives, the Library of Congress, dictionaries and university archives. Every card lists its sources.
3. An automatic check
A program checks every card, guide and record before it can be published: each question has exactly one right answer, every card has sources, and nothing is missing.
4. An independent fact check
A second, separate check goes through every claim against the sources, looking for anything wrong, unclear or out of date. A page is published only when this check passes.
5. Corrected when you tell us
