Capd.
Capd. in a military roster means captured, taken prisoner by the enemy, not captain.
Capd. abbreviates captured. In a roster line it is followed by a date and sometimes a place, and later entries tell what happened next: paroled, exchanged, died in prison or returned to the company.
Do not read it as Capt., captain, which is a rank placed before a name. A Capd. entry sends you to prisoner of war records for that date.
As seen in a recordCompany roster in a state adjutant general's report
Capd. May 5, '64; paroled Dec. '64
