Wk
Wk in the 1950 census means the person was working most of the week before the enumerator's visit.
The 1950 census asked what each person 14 and older was doing most of the previous week. The codes were Wk for working, H for keeping house, U for unable to work and Ot for other, with Inmate for people in institutions.
Wk is not short for weeks here. The occupation and industry columns on the same line then describe the job.
As seen in a recordLine of the 1950 census
Hart, Leon, Head, M, W, 44, Mar, Wk
