Crown
A crown on a gravestone stands for the reward of the righteous, the glory of life after death; on Jewish stones it means honor and piety.
Colonial winged faces sometimes wear crowns, and Farber's list gives the crown as the glory of life after death. On Victorian stones it stands for Christian righteousness and the soul's achievement, and a hand reaching for a crown shows the reward being claimed.
On Jewish stones a crown means honor, piety and Torah study, often paired with books, lions or priestly hands. A crown with a cross has its own entry and can also be a Masonic emblem.
