4-F
4-F (IV-F in World War II) was the draft classification for a man rejected for military service for physical, mental or moral reasons.
In World War II, Class IV held men who were unacceptable for service or deferred by law, and IV-F was the class for those rejected on physical, mental or moral grounds. It was used from October 1940 to March 1947.
World War I had no 4-F as such: men judged medically disabled or morally unfit fell in Class V, the exempt class. A World War II classification history may also give the date and result of the man's armed forces physical examination.
