Sandy
Sandy is an old nickname for Alexander, found in American records of the 1700s and 1800s.
Sandy is a short form of Alexander. Charlotte Yonge says Alick, Saunders and Sandy were the usual contractions in the south of Scotland.
A gravestone or a family Bible may say Sandy while a will or a deed says Alexander. Search indexes under both forms so you do not miss him.
As seen in a recordCounty tax list, 1816; his will names him Alexander
