Ted

Ted is an old nickname for Edward or Theodore, found in American records of the 1700s and 1800s.

Ted served for Edward and for Theodore, and occasionally for Thaddeus or Edmund. Charlotte Yonge lists Neddy and Teddy among the forms of Edward.

The same man can be Edward in one record and Ted in the next, for example a birth under one name and a marriage under the other. Match age, place and relatives before you join the two. Because Ted served for more than one name, see which full name the same man carries in other records.

As seen in a record1850 census; his 1844 deed is signed Edward
