Tom
Tom is a nickname for Thomas, so the same person may be Tom in one record and Thomas in another.
Tom is a short form of Thomas that goes back to Middle English, and Charlotte Yonge lists it among the English forms of the name. It was also given as a full name.
In a search, try both names. An index may list him only as Tom, while his baptism or marriage record gives Thomas.
