Daily AncestorWillie
Willie stood for William in many American records of the 1700s and 1800s.
Willie is a pet form of William. Lists of 18th and 19th century nicknames also give it for Wiley.
If a search for William finds nothing, try Willie, and the reverse. Treat a match as a lead and confirm it with age, birthplace and family members.
As seen in a record1880 census; his 1891 marriage license gives William
Willie Upchurch, Son, 12, At school
