Billposter

A billposter pasted printed bills and posters in public places, such as walls, fences and boards, to advertise shows, sales and events.

Bill was the old word for a printed notice or poster, and a billposter put them up in public view, on building fronts, fences and hoardings. In the United States the method is called wheatpasting, because a paste made from wheat flour was used to stick the posters.

The British word billsticker means the same thing. Posting bills without permission has long been against the law in many places.
