Carter
A carter was a person who hauled goods in a cart for pay.
The carter moved goods around a town or between farm and market in a horse or ox cart. In cities the same work was often called carting, and the men cartmen.
The trade gave us the surname Carter. Compare teamster for longer hauls with larger teams.
