Dairyman

A dairyman kept or worked a dairy farm, or in towns delivered milk and other dairy products, depending on the record.

Dairyman usually means a dairy farmer, though it can also mean a worker in milk processing or a man who delivered milk and butter to customers.

In 1900 enumerators were told to return as a dairyman or dairywoman anyone whose farm work had to do chiefly with the dairy, and not to confuse that person with an employee of a butter and cheese or condensed milk factory.
