Ironmonger
An ironmonger sold hardware, tools and household goods, originally iron wares; Americans called the same shop a hardware store.
Ironmongery first meant the making of iron goods and the place where they were sold for home rather than industrial use. Over time it came to include goods of steel, brass, aluminum and other materials.
The word is chiefly British and Irish and has largely fallen out of use even there; the United States equivalent is hardware store.
