Saloon keeper
A saloon keeper owned or ran a saloon, the usual American name in the 1800s and early 1900s for a bar or drinking establishment.
Saloons ranged from small neighborhood bars to large city halls, and many saloon keepers were immigrants serving their own community.
National Prohibition banned the sale of alcohol from 1920 to 1933, so a saloon keeper in 1910 may show up with a different job in 1920. Local license records and city directories can add detail.
As seen in a recordOccupation column of the 1880 to 1910 census
