Stevedore
A stevedore was a dock worker who loaded and unloaded ships, or a contractor who hired men to do so.
Stevedores worked in the holds and on the docks, stowing cargo so it would not shift at sea and unloading it in port. The word could also mean the boss who contracted the work.
Longshoreman means much the same in American usage. Both are common in port city returns.
