Consort
Consort in old records and on gravestones simply means husband or wife; Hannah, consort of Eli Dodge, means Eli's wife.
Consort means a spouse or partner. On early American gravestones, consort of simply means wife of or husband of.
Today the word is mostly linked to royalty, as in queen consort, but in family records it carries no royal meaning at all.
