Great-grandchild

A great-grandchild is the child of your grandchild; great-grandson and great-granddaughter name the boy or girl.

A great-grandchild is three generations below you: your child's child's child. Each extra great adds a generation, and numbers can replace the greats, so a great-great-great-grandson may be called a 3rd great-grandson.

A will that names great-grandchildren separately from grandchildren helps sort the generations, since a great-grandchild is one step further down the same line.
