How many young men aged 16 to 25 lived in Henry Bidler, jr.'s household in 1820?
Correct
Not quite
The 1820 census has an odd extra column, "between sixteen and eighteen", that overlaps with "sixteen and under twenty-six". A young man of 16 or 17 was marked in both, so his line (1 and 1) means one person, not two. On John's line below, 1 and 2 mean one youth of 16 or 17 plus one man of 18 to 25. Always subtract the 16 to 18 column before you add up a household.
