Column 30 of the 1910 census asked "Whether a survivor of the Union or Confederate Army or Navy". Line 63 is Iram Manchester, a 75-year-old head of household born in New York. What does his entry mean?
Correct
Not quite
Enumerators wrote UA for Union Army, UN for Union Navy, CA for Confederate Army and CN for Confederate Navy. "Ua" tells you to look for his Union service and pension records at the National Archives. In the same row, R means the home was rented and H that it was a house, not a farm.
