This schedule lists deaths in the year ending 1st June, 1850. When did the person on the line with "Nov." die of dropsy?
Correct
Not quite
Mortality schedules cover the twelve months before census day, June 1, 1850, so the year ran from June 1849 to May 1850. A death in "Nov." can only be November 1849, and a "Feb." death below it is February 1850. Dropsy was swelling from fluid build-up, often from heart or kidney failure, which fits an illness of "8 years".
