nia, Mrs. MARY VEACH, in the 57th year of her
age, relict of the late David Veach, of this vi-
cinity.
What does "relict of the late David Veach" tell you about Mary?
Correct
Not quite
A relict is the surviving spouse, nearly always a widow; "the late" confirms David was already dead. So look for David Veach's death before June 1855, and for an estate or will in his name. "Consort", by contrast, usually meant a wife whose husband was still living. "In the 57th year of her age" means she was 56.
