Nev in the 1950 census marital status column means never married.
Earlier censuses wrote S for single. The 1950 census wrote Nev for a person who had never married, and children under 14 were reported this way too.
One detail can mislead you: the instructions say a person whose only marriage had been annulled was also marked Nev. So Nev in 1950 does not rule out an earlier marriage record.
