Corn.
Corn. in a name column is an old abbreviation of the first name Cornelius.
Corn. is a clerk's shortening of Cornelius. Some writers used Cor'us or a similar contraction with the end letters raised above the line.
Do not read it as the crop. In a farm schedule corn is a crop, but in a name column, a will or a church register Corn. followed by a surname is a man. Indexers sometimes miss it, so search for Corn as a first name too.
As seen in a recordName column of the 1850 census
Corn. Van Dyke, 52, Farmer, N.J.
