d.s.p.

D.s.p. stands for decessit sine prole, Latin for "died without issue," meaning the person left no children.

D.s.p. is a Latin abbreviation used in pedigrees, peerage books and some printed genealogies to show that a person died without children. Those works usually mean no children who survived or who could inherit, which mattered for who received land or a title.

Treat it as the compiler's conclusion rather than proof. A man marked d.s.p. may have had children who died young or children the compiler did not know about. Look for a will or probate file that names the heirs.
