K of P
K of P stands for Knights of Pythias, a fraternal order founded in 1864, and on a gravestone marks a member.
The Knights of Pythias was founded in Washington, D.C., on February 19, 1864, and was the first fraternal order chartered by an act of Congress. Its emblems often carry the letters FCB, for its motto Friendship, Charity, Benevolence.
So a gravestone with K of P, KP or FCB marks a Pythian. Local lodge records may mention the member's death.
