OES
OES on a gravestone means Order of the Eastern Star, a Masonic body open to women and men.
The Order of the Eastern Star was set up in 1850 by Rob Morris, a Freemason, and was approved as part of the Masonic family in 1873. It is open to both men and women, and its emblem is a star with a pentagon at the center.
An OES emblem on a stone tells you to look for the local chapter's records, and for Masonic emblems such as F&AM on family stones nearby.
