Supt.
Supt. is short for superintendent, an approved abbreviation in the 1900 census occupation column.
Supt. stands for superintendent, a person in charge of a works, a mine, a school system or an institution. The 1900 census allowed it in the narrow occupation column, and the word after it names what was supervised.
In the same census, the chief officer of an institution was listed by his title, such as superintendent, in the relationship column. So the superintendent of a poor farm or asylum may appear on the same sheets as its inmates.
As seen in a recordOccupation column of the 1900 census
