Trans.
Trans. in a military roster means transferred: the soldier was moved to another company, regiment or corps.
Trans. abbreviates transferred. A roster line such as Trans. to Co. F or Trans. to V.R.C. tells you the soldier's service continues in another unit's records.
Follow the transfer. A man who seems to vanish from his first regiment may finish the war, be discharged or be buried under the second unit's name.
As seen in a recordCompany roster in a state adjutant general's report
Trans. to Co. F, Jan. 1, '64
