Convinced Friend

A convinced Friend was someone not born a Quaker who came to Quaker belief and was received into membership at their own request.

Convincement is the Quaker word for conversion. In meeting minutes and abstracts the joining is usually recorded as received by request, abbreviated recrq, or requested to come under care.

A convinced Friend's parents were probably not Quakers, so their own birth will not be in any meeting register. Search other churches or civil records for the earlier generation.
