tonsor

Tonsor is Latin for a barber, a man who cut hair and shaved; tonsoris means of the barber.

Tonsor means barber, from tondeo, to clip or trim. Wiktionary also gives a second sense, a gardener who prunes plants. The feminine is tonstrix.

Barbers also did surgery and bloodletting, so look under both tonsor and chirurgus when you follow one man through the records.
