Lula

Lula is a nickname for Louisa or Lucy, so the same person may be Lula in one record and Louisa in another.

Lula is a 19th century variant of Lulu, a pet form of Louisa and Lucy. It was often given as a full name, so a Lula may have had no longer name.

In a search, try both names. An index may list her only as Lula, while her baptism or marriage record gives Louisa. Because Lula served for more than one name, see which full name the same woman carries in other records.

As seen in a record1880 census; her 1864 marriage license gives Louisa
Lula Osgood, Wife, 36, Keeping house
