Si

Si was a nickname for Silas, Josiah, Cyrus or Simon in American records of the 1700s and 1800s.

Si is a short form of Josiah and Cyrus on lists of 18th and 19th century nicknames, and it also served for Silas and Simon.

In a search, try both names. An index may list him only as Si, while his baptism or marriage record gives Silas. Because Si served for more than one name, see which full name the same man carries in other records.

As seen in a recordCounty tax list, 1802; his will names him Silas
