klokkerbok
A klokkerbok is the parish clerk's duplicate of a Norwegian church book, required from 1812 and a second chance when the priest's book is lost.
An ordinance of December 1812 required the klokker, the parish clerk, to keep a copy with the same entries as the priest's ministerialbok, stored in a separate place in case of fire or loss. The FamilySearch Catalog marks clerk books with "kl".
Where the main register is lost, the klokkerbok may preserve the information. When a name or date is hard to read in one book, compare it with the other. The duty to keep a klokkerbok was lifted late in the 1900s.
Look it up: old jobs, causes of death, Latin, abbreviations, nicknames and more.
