Chambermaid

A chambermaid was a maid who cleaned and made up bedrooms, in a hotel or in a wealthy private house.

Wiktionary defines a chambermaid as a maid who handles the chores in a hotel room or, chiefly in the past, in a bedroom of a wealthy household.

The 1910 and 1920 census instructions told enumerators to return a woman working at housework for wages as housekeeper, servant, cook or chambermaid, and to say in the next column where she worked, such as private family, hotel or boarding house.
