Chiropodist

A chiropodist treated the feet, such as corns, bunions and nails; in the United States the word has given way to podiatrist.

Wiktionary defines a chiropodist as a practitioner of chiropody, care of the feet, and marks the word as now chiefly British and Canadian.

In the United States chiropodist is still occasionally used but is regarded as old-fashioned; podiatrist is the modern term. The American Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree replaced the older Doctor of Surgical Chiropody in the 1960s, so a trained chiropodist in a census before then may have held the older degree.
