admon.
Admon. (also admin.) means letters of administration, the court document that let someone settle the estate of a person who left no will.
Admon. is short for administration, and in probate indexes it usually means that letters of administration were granted, not that a will was proved. That tells you right away that the person likely died without a will.
The grant names the administrator and the date, which usually falls within weeks or months after the death. Files may also hold an inventory and later accounts of the estate.
