admr.
Admr. is short for administrator, the person a court appointed to settle the estate of someone who died without a will.
Admr. means administrator. When a person died intestate (without a will), or the named executor would not serve, the probate court appointed an administrator, usually the widow, a grown child, a close relative or a large creditor.
The appointment produced letters of administration (admon.) and often a bond with sureties, who were frequently relatives. The female form is admx. or administratrix.
