admx.
Admx. is short for administratrix, a woman appointed by a court to settle the estate of someone who died without a will.
Admx. stands for administratrix, the older term for a female administrator. Widows were very often appointed to settle their husbands' estates, so admx. after a woman's name is a strong hint that she was the widow.
Look for the administration bond. It names the sureties who guaranteed her work, and they were often her own father, brothers or other kin.
