UA
UA in the 1910 census means the man was a survivor of the Union Army; UN marked a survivor of the Union Navy.
The 1910 census added a column for Civil War service. Enumerators asked it of native-born men over 50 and of foreign-born men who came to the country before 1865, and wrote UA for a survivor of the Union Army or UN for a survivor of the Union Navy. Everyone else was left blank.
A UA entry tells you to look for the man's Union service and pension records. The blank column is not proof he never served, since a careless answer or a missed question leaves the same empty space.
