CA
CA in the 1910 census means the man was a survivor of the Confederate Army; CN marked a survivor of the Confederate Navy.
In the 1910 census, the last column asked older men whether they had survived service in the Civil War. CA meant the Confederate Army and CN the Confederate Navy, alongside UA and UN for the Union side.
Do not read CA as California. On the 1910 sheet the birthplace is written out in a separate column, and the state names were not to be abbreviated. A CA entry is your cue to look for Confederate service records and pension papers.
