WW
WW in the 1930 census veterans column means the man served in the World War, the war we now call World War I.
The 1930 census asked every man 21 or older whether he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, Navy or Marine Corps mobilized for a war or expedition. For a Yes, the next column named the war, and the instructions offered short forms: WW for the World War, SP, Civ, Phil, Box and Mex.
In 1930 there had been only one world war, so WW means the war now called World War I. The 1940 census used a single W for the same service. A WW entry points you to draft registration cards and military service records.
