cor. in a city directory address means corner, as in res cor. Main and 3d, or n e cor for the northeast corner.
Directory keys list cor for corner and build compass forms from it, such as n e cor for the northeast corner and s w cor for the southwest corner, as in the Bay City directory of 1886-7.
An address given by a corner helps you place a house on a map even when street numbers later changed. Do not confuse cor. with Corp., corporal, in military records.
