Dau. is the standard abbreviation of "daughter" in registers, wills and genealogies.
Dau. means daughter. You will see it in baptism entries (dau. of Jno. and Mary), in wills (to my dau. Eliz.) and in family genealogies. The plural is often daus.
In a will, a married daughter may be named under her married surname, so a dau. Sarah Brown could be the testator's own child.
