et ux.
Et ux. (et uxor) means "and wife": Jno. Smith et ux. means John Smith and his wife.
Et ux. is short for the Latin et uxor, "and his wife." It is common in deed indexes and abstracts, where a couple selling land is shown as the husband's name followed by et ux.
The wife's own name is often in the full deed, along with her separate acknowledgment that she gave up her dower right. So when the index says only et ux., always read the deed.
