Capillary bronchitis
Capillary bronchitis was inflammation reaching the smallest airways of the lungs, essentially bronchopneumonia, and was especially deadly for babies and old people.
Ordinary bronchitis affects the large airways. When it spread to the tiny tubes next to the air sacs, doctors called it capillary bronchitis or bronchopneumonia, and the patient's life was in real danger.
It often followed measles, whooping cough or a cold. The entry is common for infants and the elderly in late 1800s and early 1900s records.
