Hodgkin's disease

Hodgkin's disease was the name for a cancer of the lymph glands, first described by Thomas Hodgkin in 1832 and now called Hodgkin lymphoma.

Thomas Hodgkin of Guy's Hospital, London, described the disease in 1832. Samuel Wilks reported it again in 1856 and, learning of the earlier paper, named it Hodgkin's disease in 1865. Painless swollen glands in the neck, armpit or groin are typical.

Wiktionary marks Hodgkin's disease as the former name of Hodgkin's lymphoma. IPUMS puts it in one code with leukemia.
