Uremia

Uremia, or uraemia, meant poisoning of the blood by waste that failing kidneys could no longer remove; it was often the final stage of Bright's disease.

The word joins Greek for urine and blood. Wiktionary calls it blood poisoning from the retention of waste normally passed in urine, and doctors today use it for the final stage of kidney failure.

IPUMS codes Bright's disease, nephritis and uraemia together in its scheme for the 1850 to 1880 mortality schedules.
