Radio set

Radio set was a 1930 census column: an R on the head's line meant the family owned a radio.

The 1930 instructions told the enumerator to write R opposite the head of the family if anyone in the family had a radio set, and to leave it blank otherwise. The column appears only on the 1930 population schedule.

Do not confuse this R with the R for rented in the home tenure column just before it. Read the column headings: tenure comes first, then home value or rent, then radio.
